About 1571
A Studio Built Around Cultural Exploration
1571 Studio creates premium 3D-printed home décor inspired by artistic traditions, architecture, symbolism, and design movements from around the world.
The name 1571 Studio is inspired by Abraham Ortelius’s 1571 world atlas — one of the earliest works to bring the known world together through maps.
That spirit of discovery became the foundation of our studio.
Rather than exploring places through geography, we explore them through design.
From the geometry of Art Deco to the tranquility of Japanese motifs, the symbolism of Celtic heritage, and the visual language of ancient civilizations, each collection begins with a different cultural story.
Where Art, History & Modern Making Meet
Our work sits at the intersection of historical inspiration and modern production.
We study decorative traditions, architectural forms, cultural motifs, and artistic movements, then reinterpret those influences as original dimensional designs created specifically for 3D printing.
The result is décor that feels sculptural rather than simply decorative.
Raised reliefs, engraved surfaces, geometric patterns, layered silhouettes, and architectural forms give each piece depth, shadow, and presence.
These are objects designed not only to occupy a space, but to give it character.
Designed as Collections, Not Isolated Objects
1571 Studio is organized around cultural and artistic collections.
Each collection develops its own visual language while remaining recognizably part of the same studio.
Art Deco
Our largest collection draws from the architecture, geometry, glamour, and visual confidence of the Jazz Age and Roaring Twenties.
You will find stepped forms, starbursts, elegant silhouettes, geometric borders, architectural patterns, and our signature Lady in Black aesthetic.
Japanese
A quieter visual world inspired by balance, nature, and Japanese artistic traditions.
Bamboo, cherry blossoms, Mount Fuji, geisha silhouettes, pagodas, koi, and other motifs appear across sculptural décor designed to bring a sense of calm and rhythm to the home.
Celtic & Irish
A collection rooted in heritage and symbolism.
Celtic crosses, Claddagh imagery, triskeles, knotwork, the Tree of Life, Irish harps, and shamrocks are reinterpreted through dimensional contemporary forms.
Ancient Americas
Inspired by the geometry, architecture, and visual traditions of civilizations across the Americas.
Mayan, Aztec, Pueblo, Andean, Mesoamerican, and Inca influences become the starting point for bold relief patterns and sculptural decorative objects.
Our collections will continue to evolve as we explore additional artistic traditions.
The 1571 Signature
Across many of our collections, you will notice a recurring tan-on-black palette.
Deep black backgrounds create contrast while tan, cream, champagne, and related tones highlight the dimensional artwork.
Light moves differently across a raised surface than it does across a printed image.
Details become more pronounced.
Shadows change throughout the day.
Patterns reveal themselves gradually.
That interaction between form, contrast, and light has become one of the defining characteristics of 1571 Studio.
Why 3D Printing?
3D printing allows us to work differently from traditional mass-produced home décor.
Instead of limiting designs to flat graphics or conventional molds, we can build depth directly into the object.
Lines become ridges.
Patterns become relief.
Illustrations become sculptural surfaces.
Architectural ideas can be translated into functional pieces such as trays, lamps, coasters, bowls, wall décor, and decorative objects.
The technology is modern.
The inspiration often reaches much further back.
That contrast is central to what we create.
Original Designs with a Point of View
1571 Studio is not about reproducing historical artifacts.
Our designs use artistic and cultural references as inspiration and reinterpret them through our own visual language.
Each piece is developed as an original design intended to work within a contemporary interior while retaining a connection to the history or artistic tradition that inspired it.
We want the reference to be recognizable without making the piece feel like a museum reproduction.
The goal is something more personal:
history reinterpreted for modern spaces.
Made for Spaces with Character
1571 Studio is for interiors that are not afraid of personality.
A sculptural tray on a console.
A geometric lamp casting light across a bedroom.
A Celtic motif displayed beside contemporary furniture.
A Japanese-inspired piece bringing quiet rhythm to a shelf.
An Art Deco centerpiece becoming the visual anchor of a room.
We believe meaningful interiors are rarely created by filling every surface.
Sometimes one carefully chosen object is enough.
Our Design Philosophy
We are drawn to objects that carry more than one layer of meaning.
A piece can be functional and sculptural.
Modern and historical.
Decorative and symbolic.
Minimal in color yet rich in detail.
That balance guides much of what we create.
We favor quiet sophistication over excess, distinctive forms over generic decoration, and thoughtful design over passing trends.
A Continuing Atlas of Design
1571 Studio began with the idea of cultural exploration, but the journey is intentionally unfinished.
There will always be another artistic tradition to study.
Another architectural language to reinterpret.
Another pattern, symbol, movement, or civilization worth exploring.
Just as an atlas connects places across a map, our collections connect different chapters of design history through objects made for the modern home.
1571 Studio explores the world's artistic heritage through dimensional 3D-printed home décor. Each piece maps a journey through cultural design traditions — from Art Deco elegance to Japanese tranquility, Celtic heritage to Mesoamerican geometry. Welcome to our collection.
